As this is a rare
opportunity for the Tamil Post Graduate candidates, the Placement and Training
Cell, Bharathidasan University took-up the responsibility of providing training
to the shortlisted candidates, without any fees, in order to improve their
spoken English and personality with a three day Crash Course on Spoken English
and Personality Development (8th – 10th July, 2015).
Orientation regarding the IELTS was also provided to the participants. This course
specifically aimed to help the shortlisted candidates in facing the further
selection processes. Moreover, the course also aimed to impart soft skills to
students who need these skills during the process of any interview. As the course
was also open to the students of Bharathidasan University many students from
different departments registered for the course. Totally, 213 students
registered for the course. Due to the overwhelming response, the course was
conducted in two batches.
The
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University inaugurated the course and
observed that the knowledge of the English language is very important. He
stressed the importance of reading newspapers to learn the language in terms of
improving vocabulary. He pointed out that watching news shows in English would
improve the pronunciation and articulation. He also spoke about the
significance of personality and observed that personality is not about
appearance citing the example of the IAS topper Ms. Ira Singhal. He cited
various other personalities from whom inspiration should be taken for building
one’s personality.
